We are working on some kind of solution, but cvs does not scale well
unfortunately. We will likely offer cvsup for x86 systems, and cvs for others.

Yes it is.
I have installed it on the hand, and it work quite good for me.
If someone want's an ebuild I may be able to do it.

cvs in pserver mode works great in chrooted environments.
However I don't think anybody on the hardened herd is going to be jumping on this bug right away.

Doing the initial ebuilds for this would be rather easy but finding a developer to keep continued support is usually based on developers actually using the software which none of us are.
