In the knowledgetree ebuild it says: 39 You can also use knowledgtree with postgres. This ebuild currently 40 does not provide support for it but if there is a need for it, please 41 submit a feature request to the gentoo buzilla system. This is exactly what I'm doing.
* KnowledgeTree requires the following software to run: - Apache 1.3 or above - MySQL 4.0 or above with INNODB support - PHP 4.3.0 or above, but not yet PHP 5.0 searching their wiki or any of their docs for Postgres turns up nothing. I think whoever wrote that comment in the ebuild was wrong. Also that comment has been removed from the ebuilds so I think this bug can be closed.
I've just sent an e-mail to someone over there (a generic address) so I'd leave it as unresolved until they confirm or deny that KT works exclusively with MySQL.
I was the one that originally added the comment. There are actually some sql scripts to create the necessary tables in postgres and I think that did tempt me to add the comment. But in the README that belongs to these scripts they explicitely state that it is not supported at the moment and they'd be happy about any patches. If I remember correctly I added the comment more than a year ago and if they did not come up with postgres support for the new version we should just wait until there is official support So removing the comment is perfectly ok and sorry for adding it in the first place ;)
(In reply to comment #2) > I've just sent an e-mail to someone over there (a generic address) so I'd leave > it as unresolved until they confirm or deny that KT works exclusively with > MySQL. > My mail bounced, I've no objections to resolved wontfix.
