Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables XCURSOR_CFLAGS
and XCURSOR_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Do you have libXfixes installed?

>libXrender, livXfixes, xorg-x11+xorg-server, and fixesproto were all installed.

And with livXfixes, I meant libXfixes.

(And 'were' above _is_ used in past sense, as having libXfixes installed with an X.org 6.8 install on top (possible it is) just isn't feasible whenever I feel like giving modular X another (fourth) go.)
Comment 4 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-02 16:47:47 UTC
Alright, well it's incredibly difficult to debug a situation when you can't get any more info about it. I'll have to close this until someone can reproduce it.
Comment 5 Frederik 'Freso' S. Olesen 2006-04-02 17:04:51 UTC
What info do you want/need?

I could try again and confirm that I can reproduce only to go back to 6.8 without any useable information if I do not know what I need to be looking for.
Comment 6 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-02 17:10:21 UTC
pkgconfig version, whether /usr/lib/pkgconfig/xfixes.pc exists, whether you have manually set $PKG_CONFIG_PATH, the contents of /usr/lib/pkgconfig/xfixes.pc, etc.

/usr/lib[64]/pkgconfig/xfixes.pc existed.
$PKG_CONFIG_PATH was not manually set. (And when I tried setting it manually to /usr/lib/pkgconfig, it still didn't work.)

I'll attach the contents of /usr/lib[64]/pkgconfig/xfixes.pc next time I take a dive if it still doesn't work.
