Description Roman Polach 2006-03-30 09:25:39 UTC
Please add VIM into stage3 tarballs,
there are so much features for editting
config files during installation process
that are not present in NANO but are present
in VIM.

I know of people that throw aside Gentoo
only for nonexistance of VIM in stage3 tarball.

Gentoo is about THE CHOICE. But with exception
of choosing VIM.

IMHO Vim is the most standard Linux/Unix tool
for editing text files.

No.

The dependencies of vim are too much compared to nano. While I *personally* use vim, I cannot force it upon others. Besides, it is available on *every* InstallCD and *every* LiveCD. If someone chooses to not use Gentoo because they're too lazy to "emerge vim" as their first step, well, we probably won't miss them. ;]

DOESN'T HAVE TO BE VIM!

Any vi clone will do. Even Busybox has a vi clone (and you can't tell me the dependencies of busybox's vi are too much).

Please do some research before you go spouting off at the mouth. The busybox vi is already enabled in the gentoo default busybox config. Type 'busybox vi' to launch it.

So it is... So then why all the lame excuses? Just link to it!
