Description Mike Hlavac 2006-03-25 19:05:51 UTC
Abiword 2.2.11 emerges, but all of the buttons on the toolbars at the top are missing. This same behavior is observed with Abiword 2.4.2

What gtk+ theme are you using ? Is there any console output running abiword ?
Comment 4 Mike Hlavac 2006-03-26 09:17:22 UTC
I'm using whatever the default gtk+ theme is. No text is displayed in the console when starting or running abiword.
Comment 5 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-02 08:55:01 UTC
is it just abiword ? It looks like your gtk is built without png support, do the menu's have icons ?
Comment 6 Mike Hlavac 2006-04-02 10:50:33 UTC
This is just abiword. Other GTK+ programs seem to function correctly (gaim, sylpheed, mozilla-firefox, xchat, etc). These other programs seem to have menus with icons/buttons but abiword does not.

that log I can't open, seems to contain garbage.

Fixed build log

Somehow I managed to gzip the original attachment twice. This one has been double checked so it should extract the first time :)
Comment 10 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-12 03:55:06 UTC
somehow you did it again...

anyway, I don't see it actually getting installed at all : no merge on the live filesys. You probably working off an old install and have nothing but the binary installed somehow, so no icons to show up. Ever installed abiword with non-gentoo ebuilds/from source ?

Can you try the ~arch version of abiword ?
Comment 11 Mike Hlavac 2006-04-12 22:45:40 UTC
I never did an external build of abiword from source on this machine. I just now re-emerged the latest version of abiword that is ~alpha'd (2.4.2-r1) and the same behavior is observed. I have also confirmed that this is actually the version that gets run when I start the application. This particular machine was recently (2-3 months ago) re-imaged with a fresh install of Gentoo, and the trouble with AbiWord was noticed then.

About the build log...I still have the original file (verified to be compressed once) sitting on my hard drive. Seems strange that as soon as I upload to bugzilla it compresses a second time.

Where are the images for AbiWord stored on the filesystem? Perhaps I can verify that they exist and were updated.
Comment 12 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-13 04:24:31 UTC
what is the output of 'equery f abiword' (needs gentoolkit) ?

Output of equery f abiword
Comment 14 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-13 09:49:27 UTC
more oddness, abiword seems installed just fine, which doesn't really fit with the log.

can you provide a log of 'strace abiword' (just startup & exit) ?

AbiWord 2.4.2-r1 startup log
Comment 16 Mike Hlavac 2006-06-03 12:09:53 UTC
Somehow it looks like something in my .AbiSuite directory got corrupted or something in /tmp was stale. Cleaning out files from the two of them ( I didn't try to do them separately) resolves this issue.
