Description Dave Durkee 2006-03-22 23:35:31 UTC
I have a new HP xw9300 workstation and the 2006.0 universal install cd. The system has 2 u320 scsi disks and a dvd/cd combo. No device files are created for sda and sdb. boot options: gentoo doscsi. Blow is a section of the dmesg file:

What troubleshooting steps have you taken? Any? What SCSI controller do you have? Is your DVD SCSI? If not, try booting without "doscsi" as it is 100% unnecessary on any machine except those with SCSI optical media.

Have you tried booting with: "gentoo-nofb nosmp nolapic noapic acpi=off"
Comment 2 Dave Durkee 2006-03-29 23:43:41 UTC
this issue is caused by a mising driver for the LSi Logic LSI 53C1030 SCSI chipset.

Sorry guys, my humble apologies
