dear developers: could revdep-rebuild determine which dependencies are not resolved by a rebuild, and email this information back? for example, on my system, liboaf was never built to begin with, yet it was required by a number of packages, such as gconfd. I would guess this is a missing dependency in the gconf package. if at the end of the revdep-rebuild the same unsolved dependencies still exist, I think revdep-rebuild should ask for permission to radio this back to the gentoo folks. a simple aggregator can then determine what gets radioed back a lot, and tell the gentoo maintainers that they may potentially have forgotten about some dependency. sincerely, /iaw
I don't think that this is really easily accomplished, even with ignoring any privacy concerns about automatic emails. Anyhow reassigning to tools-portage while I think about it.
I really don't see this type of script ever being written and maintained.
There's a "Auto dependency builder" summer of code project that seems somewhat related: http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/project/google/gsoc2011/bay/25001
