Trying to emerge banshee-0.10.9 fails in the configure stage on my powerbook. I had given banshee the ~x86 keyword (as previous versions worked fine on ppc) checking for GStreamer 0.10 decodebin plugin... no configure: error: Cannot find required GStreamer-0.10 plugin 'decodebin'. I have no idea where this plugin can be found. Should this be a dependancy of banshee-0.10.9? Or is this a PPC issue? emerge --info Portage 2.0.54 (default-linux/ppc/2005.1/ppc, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r3, 2.6.16-rc5 ppc) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.16-rc5 ppc 7447A, altivec supported Gentoo Base System version 1.6.14 ccache version 2.3 [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="ppc" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=G4 -mtune=G4 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe" CHOST="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=G4 -mtune=G4 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/Gentoo http://mirror.pacific.net.au/Gentoo http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.au.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="ppc X X509 aac alsa altivec apm audiofile bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bluetooth bzip2 cairo cdparanoia cdr crypt cups curl daap dbus dga divx divx4linux dri dv dvb dvd dvdr eds emboss esd ethereal evo exif expat fam fbcon ffmpeg firefox flac foomaticdb fortran gdbm gif glitz glut gnome gphoto2 gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml hal howl idn ieee1394 insecure-drivers ipod irmc java joystick jpeg junit lcms libwww live lzo mad matroska mng mono mozilla mp3 mpeg nautilus ncurses network nls nptl nsplugin ogg oggvorbis openal opengl pam pci pcre pdflib perl pmu png ppds python radeon readline samba sdl sheep slang speex spell sqlite ssl tcpd tetex theora threads tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb v4l v4l2 vorbis xine xinerama xml2 xv xvid zlib video_cards_radeon userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
banshee isn't ppc keyworded and i don't know any "decodebin" plugin. Investigate if you know what plugin this is and report here please.
ok... decodebin is provided by gst-plugins-base-0.10 that is a dependency of banshee... did you remove it unintentionaly ? install it and you should play with banshee fine.
Not sure what was going on, but it was installed. I started working on a new gentoo install, and I noticed that decodebin is part of gst-plugins-base. Worked fine on the new install.
