Looks like a neat webrick replacement.
Mongrel depends on gem_plugin, which is not in the tree yet, and I've opened a bug for it. I do not have the permissions to set that here -- could the bug reporter or a dev mark that? bug #142805 ebuild forthcoming.
Created attachment 93426 [details] dev-ruby/mongrel-0.3.13.3 ebuild for mongrel
IMNAD but methinks this should go under net-www. apache, lighttpd and monkeyd aren't filed according to programming language.

The uninformed should alter their state before opening their mouth *bangs head on wall*.
Created attachment 98852 [details] mongrel-0.3.13.4.ebuild version 0.3.13.4
mongrel latest version is 0.3.19. Could you please recheck if there is any dependency change?
There seems to optional 'fastthread' requirement as of 0.3.17 (so maybe fastthread USE flag) It's available from http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/releases And latest version of mongrel is 1.0 ;)
Testing it now. Last question: should it belong to www-servers or dev-ruby?
I suggest www-servers since it's a more used as a web server than a library. "Mongrel is a fast HTTP library and server for Ruby that is intended for hosting Ruby web applications"
Which ebuild are you using for testing. The attached one? Or your own for version 1.0 RC1 with optional fastthread?
(In reply to comment #10) > Which ebuild are you using for testing. The attached one? Or your own for > version 1.0 RC1 with optional fastthread? > The one with fastthread
(In reply to comment #11) > > The one with fastthread > Great! Please commit it as soon as you can. I have a RoR app I can test it with. Mask it in portage if you're unsure. The same for mongrel_cluster. Thanks!
Um.. stilling waiting for www-servers' response :) If you want to help testing, I could put those ebuilds here
www-servers category is fine - go ahead. whether the www-servers herd should take over maintenance i remain unconvinced - you guys seem to do all the work... and great work at that. same goes for mongrel_cluster in bug #143098, i suppose...
It's in CVS now. Thanks everybody
