I tried to emerge 'dev-tex/bera-20040930' and the zipfile wasn't found on any or the mirrors.  I downloaded the package from CTAN and renamed 'bera.zip' to 'bera-20040930.zip', moved it to '/usr/portage/distfiles' and was then able to emerge the package.

This is really weird, I'm pretty sure I uploaded it before. :\

Anyway, it should hit the mirrors in a couple hours. Thanks for reporting.
