A current run of "mirrorselect -s 4" results in: GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo/ ftp://mirror.nutsmaas.nl/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo/ ftp://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/gentoo/" What's about an additional option to prevent using ftp and http protocol of the same host (see ftp.belnet.be) to have 4 _real_different hosts ?
I would definitely like to see this as an option and not default, as I can think of several occasions when working on release building where, for example, the http site was down but the ftp was not, on the same host.
I like this idea, thank you for the suggestion. I also agree with Chris, I prefer to keep the default functionality as it is. This will be implemented in a new version relatively soon.
sorry this is taking so long, I've been busy with school. I havent forgotten about it though.
I've actualy decided not to implement this feature. The -F and -H options give similar functionality, and there is no good way to implement this for technical reasons. It's kind of complicated, and not realy relevant, so if anybody wants further explanation, find me on IRC.
