why? i can't think of a single reason why it should be left out. it is a royal pain in the arse to not have it.
I'll add it. :)
I wanted to add this but I'm having a hard time getting memtest to boot properly from the CD. It just seems to hang with an error whether I use "memtest" or "memtest.bin" as a kernel image. It may only compile with gcc-2.95.x :/
what about putting a precompiled version on the CD or will that not work? i think that the issue is merely to have it on there as a debugging tool. zack
Tried the precompiled version, but couldn't get isolinux 2.0 to boot the thing. :/
If you're booting it as a floppy image, you need to add some zeros to the end of the floppy image because its loader tries loading more from the disk into memory than is in the image (I saw a bunch of register status dumps repeating when this happened).
LiveWire now has memtest86 on our experimental LiveCDs; forwarding to him for verification. If so, this bug can be closed.
yes, this is working on latest experimentals
needed on the new livecds
livecd bugs, not release bugs
fixed in catalyst CVS
