After installation of base gentoo system preinstalled dos2unix and unix2dos complain about "-bash: recode: command not found". After emerging both packages again, same error message occurs. After installation of "app-text/recode", both programs work fine. Portage-20060226 on x86 pentium mmx 133MHz. Sollution: in Ebuilds of dos2unix and unix2dos add DEPEND="app-text/recode". Eventually, releases after portage version 2006-02-26 should be verified if  same bug exists.

sorry, i can't reproduce this.  i'm guessing you have/had some local script version of unix2dos and dos2unix installed.  the ones in portage are written in C (so you wouldn't get a bash error), and don't use recode at all.
