Description Dmitrij D. Czarkoff 2006-03-12 20:25:51 UTC
amaroK fails to fetch lyrics for songs with cyrillic symbols search string when using ru_RU.UTF8 locale. Once I used amaroK on ru_RU.koi8r system, and nearly all the lyrics could be fetched.

ddc@czarkerlaptop ~ $ emerge -pv amarok && emerge --info

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

This is probably going to be an upstream problem; can you give a try to amarok-1.4_beta2 (that should be mostly stable.. if you're not using gstreamer backend, that is), that is using a ruby script for lyrics fetching?
If that doesn't solve, I'll see to re-route this bug upstream so that they can fix it before final release.
Comment 2 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-14 07:41:11 UTC
Please try with amarok 1.4_beta3-r2, might have been solved by the new handling.

Also, note that the default lyrics provider (lyrc.com.ar iirc) has problems with encoding that can't really be solved.

If the problem persists, reopen this bug and report one on KDE bugzilla for upstream.
