Description Peter Hyman 2006-03-12 07:50:02 UTC
Per the request during the 2006.0 boot sequence...

Although this card is recognized during the boot dialog, the nVidia driver does not get loaded. This card works fine with the nVidia kernel and glx modules.

Bah... it doesn't display a "NV" model number, which is why my scripts miss it.

What does it detect the card as? Does it load the nvidia kernel module? Which X driver does it try to use instead? Does it just not configure OpenGL, but X still works fine?
Comment 2 Peter Hyman 2006-03-12 16:02:56 UTC
Here's the whole output. You'll notice that ALSA also isn't loaded properly. X works fine, although in vesa mode. HTH

Comment 5 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-10 13:22:04 UTC
I would much prefer that we get the upstream pci.ids information consistent, rather than adding workarounds for specific cards. I'll be submitting updates to the upstream database and hope that we can resolve many if not all of these.
Comment 6 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-18 16:55:21 UTC
OK. I updated everything that I could find on the upstream pciids.sourceforge.net page, so hopefully they'll get approved. Anyway, there's nothing we can do about this further unless upstream approves this.
Comment 7 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-30 14:39:24 UTC
Even though this is fixed, technically, we will not be shipping the binary drivers on another CD, since it violates the GPL to do so.
