you neglected to post `emerge info` also, we'll need the config.log file as an attachment
Created attachment 81934 [details] config.log file next to your e-mail, I send you the config.log file and emerge.log: 1142075910: *** emerge --ask --deep --update --newuse world 1142075930: >>> emerge (1 of 1) sys-libs/glibc-2.4 to / 1142075930: === (1 of 1) Cleaning (sys-libs/glibc-2.4::/usr/portage/sys-libs/glibc/glibc-2.4.ebuild) 1142075933: === (1 of 1) Compiling/Merging (sys-libs/glibc-2.4::/usr/portage/sys-libs/glibc/glibc-2.4.ebuild) 1142075961: *** terminating.

Created attachment 82016 [details] my emerge log here my emerge log. Thank's for all indications about how to realise this file
well the answer should be fairly obvious ...
you both have gcc-3.3.6 set as your default gcc glibc-2.4 requires gcc-3.4 on x86/amd64
(In reply to comment #10) > you both have gcc-3.3.6 set as your default gcc > > glibc-2.4 requires gcc-3.4 on x86/amd64 > oh ok. thank you. i never realized that this had to be done by hand. for those of you that don't know how to do that run gcc-config -l once you see which profiile number you want to use run gcc-config #
