Description Guillaume Guénard 2006-03-11 05:44:01 UTC
Greeting,

I experienced some problems when using GNU-Emacs.

Description :
GNU-Emacs hangs the whole GNOME desktop on some occasions. It usually happens after saving a buffer to a file, either voluntary or by an auto-save event. Killing Emacs doesn't solve the hangup problem. I had to restart x11.

Version: GNU-Emacs 21.4.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, Motif Version 2.2.3)

Reproductibility : almost always

My system configuration

Portage 2.0.54 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.3.6, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.12-gentoo-r6 i686)

If you must have an Emacs built with Motif, try putting lesstif in USE. It has been said that openmotif w/ emacs can cause problems with GNOME.
