a little more helpful information:  i am now seeing this bug on multiple boxes.  the common denominator appears to be distcc.

fwiw, the problem occurs when distcc is included as a FEATURES statement, regardless of whether or not the daemon is turned on or off.  removing distcc from  FEATURES seems to solve the problem.

fwiw, this problem is occurring on both the ~x86 binutils-2.16.1-r2 and the stable 2.16.1.
