version 1.0.8 is now out. Bumped the 1.0.4 ebuild in my overlay, builds fine. Will try it out over the next couple of days.
New version behaves quite nicely. Can this be commited ?
1.0.9 (bugfix release) came out april 3rd as well.
Just bumped the ebuild again in my overlay, it's not too much work so far, but it'd be nice to get a newer ebuild in portage. I'll poke on #gentoo-desktop for advice.

It's not published out on the open, but if you want I don't mind "maintaing" newer ebuilds in an svn overlay. Right now it's only the 1.0.4 ebuild with the version number changed.

Current version is 1.0.12. A simple revision bump of 1.0.4 ebuild works. If need be setup your own local overlay. Create a dir somewhere, add it to your overlays in make.conf. Then in a terminal or etc go to that dir and mkdir -p net-news/liferea/files cp /usr/portage/net-news/liferea/files/liferea-firefox-1.5.patch net-news/liferea/files cp /usr/portage/net-news/liferea/liferea-1.0.4.ebuild net-news/liferea/liferea-1.0.12.ebuild ebuild /absolute/path/net-news/liferea/liferea-1.0.12.ebuild digest At which time it will try to fetch the tarball from sourceforge.net. If it can't or takes a while. Just go to the projects page, and download it that way to /usr/portage/distfiles/ Then emerge liferea and read your feeds. However hopefully the package maintainer or someone can revision bump 1.0.4 to 1.0.12. Which would be ideal. Till then the above can be used.
Does this need a maintainer? It seems more and more of the little software apps I love to use (GNOME Colorscheme, GDMap, Liferea, Revelation) are completely unsupported by Gentoo these days and I genuinely don't know what to do other than to go crying back to Ubuntu.
Possibly, in the next month or two I will be going through the motions to become a dev. If it still does not have a maintainer by then. I am willing to become the package maintainer. Till then setup your own overlay, or if it becomes an issue. I will see about getting it added to an existing overlay or etc. Or set one up :)
I published my overlay on my home server, please be gentle :) svn co https://82.224.45.203/svn/liferea_overlay/ Anonymous should work, please mail me privately if something's wrong to clear this bug of unrelated messages.
updated the overlay to 1.0.13. On a side note, I saw that 1.0.12 added support for xulrunner, but since there are no ebuilds for that ...
Updated overlay to 1.0.14. I had to hack around the Makefile.am and configure.ac to remove "doc" from being checked and built. If anyone wants the documentation, I can take some time to figure it out more cleanly (there's a doc USEFLAG in the gnome2 eclass) or I'll gladly take a patch. Please test this release more carefullly as the ebuild is no longer just a copy from the portage ebuild. On a side note, I'll start pruning the old ebuilds, keeping just the last three in the last revision of subversion.

1.0.14-r1 is ok for me
Updated the overlay to 1.0.15 it didn't have any of the problems of the first 1.0.14 tarball, so it built right out. Again, don't hesitate to contact me if you have any issues.
works for me
cleaned up the ebuild a bit, in cvs.
