Description Errikos Pitsos 2006-03-07 19:28:16 UTC
I am using tbird for very long with gentoo.
No problems.

Now I copied a lot of mails in one folder and that folder reached 2.1GB in size.

Then I closed tbird and backed up everything(luckily).

Then I restart tbird and tbird truncates the mailbox file to 2kb.

This has been reproduced on multiple gentoo systems.

It doesn't happen on Debian.

This is a critical problem. I wonder why I am the only one reporting it, seems, most people oranize their mails differently. Anyhow, I can't access my mail folder anymore. So this is kind of critical to me, I have "lost" 70.000+ mails.

This doesn't seem to happen on Debian, where we tried too, so it could be a compilation issue. I checked on google and mozilla webpage, there shouldn't be a file size limit, and if 4gb.

Probably completely unrelated, I just stumbled upon it when reading this bug: You shouldn't use -march=pentium4 on a Pentium M CPU (the Pentium M is based on the Design of the Pentium 4). Instead you should use -march=pentium-m. See http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-4.1.1/gcc/i386-and-x86_002d64-Options.html#i386-and-x86_002d64-Options

Works for me via anarchy.
