Description Tim Redman 2006-03-07 06:20:50 UTC
I'm seeing spots! Specifically, I'm seeing spots within the drawing canvas in Firefox. I'm attaching an image to show exactly what I'm talking about. Although not reproducible at will, I have seen this behavior in both mozilla-firefox and mozilla-firefox-bin, and on two different machines (one has an ATI Radeon display adapater, the other is using an nVidia TNT2). I am using an ~x86 version of Firefox, but I was seeing the same thing with 1.0.x (binary release only, never tried the 1.0.x source release). I have not seen this in either source or binary releases of Thunderbird, and I have not yet tried to install Firefox outside of Portage.

Most of the time, anything that involves redrawing the client area will make the spots go away (ie minimizing/maximizing, window on top of Firefox, etc), as will scrolling.

The current install:
www-client/mozilla-firefox-1.5.0.1-r2

Portage 2.0.54 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.4.5, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.14-vs2.0.1-gentoo i686)

Seems upstream, or a problem with your system.
I've never seen it, try bugs.mozilla.org if you're convinced it's firefox.
