flite has been upgraded. I couldn't figure out the ebuild, but simple .configure;make worked fine.
I am looking at this. I have an ebuild I am working on. Thanks for letting me know about this though.
Created attachment 87031 [details] I am attaching what I have so far, to pass it over to John since he is intrested in working on it. John, the ebuild I have so far is attached. Thanks.
John, I am passing this to you as you requested, I have also attached the ebuild as I have it so far.
Created attachment 89509 [details] flite-1.3.ebuild William, there are a number of problems with this version of flite. 1) alsa support is dropped. The --with-audio option must be specified with either "oss" or "none". 2) parallel makes fail because the makefile seems to want to start linking unbuild modules 3) static libraries do not build, so the static flag had to be removed 4) sed for the common_make_rules to understand that object files end in .o in our world With that, flite builds. I just question its usability with so many features removed. I'll leave it up to you on whether or not to commit this. If you'd like me to commit this, just reassign this package back to me with your notes and I'll be happy to.

I reported this bug, but it has to do with alsa support in flite 1.2. There is a patch for 1.3 too on http://homepage.hispeed.ch/loehrer/flite_alsa.html . In the meantime it would be nice to include the patch for ALSA support in 1.2, it works fine here, and only needs one line modification in the ebuild. Can you please update your patch and test this with the latest version of festival then re-assign it to me? Thanks much, William
Sorry, I updated the wrong bug.
I was able to finally commit this version bump to portage. I found patches for shared libs and alsa support at http://dialogpalette.sourceforge.net/extras.html.
