The current Gaim 2.0.0 beta ebuild is simply unusable. Some of the USE flags are not functioning (USE="-dbus" has no effect), there is no way to build the package with audio support without altering the ebuild, and the executable crashes on startup with the latest stable dbus (which we can't turn off, remember?). Also, this package has a magnitude of USE flags, some of which, I suspect, could be dropped. I'll try to hack a new ebuild for this package later today, but PLEASE -- this package needs a veteran developer taking care of it. This is a very popular piece of software, and the current state is that it's non-functional on the stable branch (once this ebuild's unmasked all other software is stable, that is).
Created attachment 83182 [details] gaim-2.0.0_beta2-r1.ebuild I modified the ebuild to include the IUSE for ao and truespeech. I also removed the double dependency on startup-notification. Fixed dbus, and cleaned it up in terms of alphabetical order for the use flags in IUSE and myconf. Please test it. Also please mark bug http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125187 a duplicate of this as this bug report mentioned the dbus error.

Updating to 2.0.0_beta2-r2 fixing dbus and the audiofile sections. In regards to both ebuilds, truespeech flag is not necessary as it currently has no effect on anything at this time (from #gaim guys not just me saying this). eds for evolution data server has worked since 1.1.2 so I'm leaving it the way it has been since it has been functional (no bugs filed on it that I have seen)
You should still be using use_enable with econf and have something to stop the bonjour and silc flags being ignored. Also: http://dev.gentoo.org/~ciaranm/docs/mw-faq/quoting.txt http://dev.gentoo.org/~ciaranm/docs/mw-faq/docfiles.txt
