Description Thorben 2002-12-20 02:33:24 UTC
after the last update world my emerge isnt running as well as it does before .-(

it recieves the list of packages, starts to update the portage tree and while
doing this, my computer freezes or reboots or cant do any harddisc action (which
leads into freeze after some time).

i removed my portage tree and try an emerge rsync but that has the same effect.
all other things are working fine (a cant remember the last time my linux
crashed :-)) )

maybe there is a bug in the new version of phyton which was updated.

i hope someone can solve the problem.....

thanks a lot,
Thorben

please post
#emerge info

did you try reemerge portage ?
Comment 2 Thorben 2002-12-20 03:25:58 UTC
there is a new version in the portage tree of portage that i have imported now
and emerge seems to work normally, but i have to delete my old tree (working on
that, emerge crashed again). but there seems to be a more generally problem.

i do some harddisk action. i copied my libs folder to a tmp and that works fine.
but copying my etc folder to tmp the computer stops.

so i get in my bios and configured it more "safe" and now copying is working fine.

i am just wondering, why this "bug" appeared without changing something....but
now all works,

thanks for your fast response :-)
