Of course, the trivial (short term) workaround to get gcc emerge'd is:
  rm -f /usr/portage/sys-devel/gcc/files/stubs/gcc-4.1-htb-stub.patch
but that'll get reinstated by the next sync.

This is not fixed. The error is still there.
