Description justin moser 2006-03-01 02:41:45 UTC
this is the first time i've tried to report a bug of this nature, so if you need more info, go ahead an ask.

the distfile for media-libs/gstreamer-0.8.11 is apparently corrupted. when i originally attempted to emerge it, i got a md5sum failer. i've emerge sync'ed a few times (send my apologies to rsync.gentoo.org), with the same result. i then redid the digest with the command:

ebuild /mnt/nfs/portage/media-libs/gstreamer/gstreamer-0.8.11.ebuild digest

[in case you are curious, i remotely host my portage... i double checked and it seems that isn't related to this problem]

the error that resulted was "bzip2: /mnt/nfs/portage/distfiles/gstreamer-0.8.11.tar.bz2 is not a bzip2 file."

my solution to the problem was downloading the source from the official gstreamer site, copying it to disfiles, and "re-digesting" it with the command above. from there gstreamer succesfully emerges.

oh, and i just got the same problem with dev-libs/liboil-0.3.6

scratch that. it's not the source tarballs, it's my copy of wget. i'll have to reinstall it when i get the chance.
