Description Charles Christie 2006-02-28 19:29:54 UTC
Is there anyway to do emerge commands in the GLI? especially emerge -f.

What I was thinking is that on one of the pages, certain commands that would be of use in the installer could be on one page, or at least in the XML file. So, let's just say that I wnated the installer to fetchonly, so I click that. The installer could do emerge -f packages && emerge packages, so that I don't have to worry about someone pulling the internet cord out of my computer by mistake, and so that I can take my computer from my downstairs area after the packages download.

If you're worried about someone pulling the network cable on you, just do a GRP install and then 'emerge -f package && emerge package' yourself for whatever isn't available via GRP after the install.

While we *might* provide a way to do this in the future, it certaintly isn't even anywhere near being on my radar, and it wouldn't be any time soon.

Moving to Release Media/Installer.
