Cream could benefit from the app-vim/enhancedcommentify patches, to get blocks "commentification" support for more filetypes (including the gentoo ones). Although its "EnhancedCommentify.vim" is based on the 2.2 version, and not 2.1, both patches (enhancedcommentify-2.1-gentooisms.patch and enhancedcommentify-2.1-extra-ft-support.patch) are still relevant. Could you copy them to app-vim/cream/files, and apply the attached patch to the 0.34 ebuild?
