Comment 1 Peter Parkanyi 2006-02-25 10:57:20 UTC
Each time i want to start xorg (version 6.8.2-r6) with fbdev driver, irrespectively of the xorg.conf file, it shows kind of greenish screen, with coloury lines, and the character outlines are also coloury. If i move the cursor, it makes the screen black on that place it touched. Clicking and other stuff works, because i could load some page with firefox, but they are unreadable. The half of the application window isn't visible anyway(the half of the screen in width is scaled to fit the whole display area). It is completely unusable.

I hope it were useful.

You mention vesafb in the summary. Does it work fine without?

What video card do you have?
Comment 3 Peter Parkanyi 2006-02-28 06:12:37 UTC
I have GeForce FX 5200. Do you think of start x without loading vesafb on bootup? I'll try it out later today.
Comment 4 Peter Parkanyi 2006-03-01 09:14:10 UTC
if i don't load vesafb on bootup, it doesn't load at all, because fb interface doesn't load.
Comment 5 Joshua Baergen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-03-01 19:28:00 UTC
Ehhe, silly me, of course.

Have you tried other FB drivers, such as the nVidia-specific ones?
Comment 6 Peter Parkanyi 2006-03-06 08:05:21 UTC
I tried out with nvidia driver, but i got the same result. I don't know what could cause such a thing, escpecially because others said it works perfectly for them. :( I gotta use vesa driver because nvidia breaks the console.
Comment 7 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-03-31 19:11:55 UTC
Please reopen if this remains an issue with modular X.
