I'm happy to help out to solve this anyway i can.
Comment 1 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-26 06:25:45 UTC
It could be your CFLAGS, -Os has been known to cause issues in the past but seems much better in most instances now. Aslo -ftracer -fweb -frename-registers are all less tested. Have you tried recompiling it with -O2 -pipe? It could also be one of the libs too though, I have seen several mathematically oriented packages break with -Os and another seemingly random flag.
Comment 2 bryce verdier 2006-02-26 22:15:10 UTC
I tried changing my CFLAGS to "-02 -pipe" and i still get the same error. It might be linked to glibc or something similar. But i'm not sure, i haven't noticed any else wrong.

Any other ideas?
Comment 3 Fabio Bonfante 2006-06-06 10:24:42 UTC
try starting che client inside a gdb instance... maybe it will return more information

$ gdb <executable>
(gdb) start
(gdb) continue

(remember USE="debug" and FEATURE="nostrip" when compiling... )
Comment 4 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-10 06:27:42 UTC
I have not been able to reproduce your issue. I have added a new version of boinc to the tree which may solve your issue. CFLAGS also affect everything boinc links to so changing them back just for boinc is not always enough, but I don't know why your particular build of boinc is failing for you.
Comment 5 Bernard Cafarelli gentoo-dev 2006-08-22 13:47:15 UTC
I had the same kind of problem with boinc 5.2.14. Emerging the new 5.5.6 solved the problem for me, thanks!

Does this problem still occur with the most
recent boinc-5.10.45 or can this bug be
closed?

Thanks,
Markus

No response from the bug and works for me in newest versions.
So closing as worksforme
