There's a new version of the OpenOffice.org Quickstarter for KDE, called oooqs2 (see URL). Quickstarter 2 v. 1.0 (not to be confused with Quickstarter v. 2.x) works well with OO.o 2.0. I've done a little work on a working ebuild, with a patch that accomodates the fact that the from-source openoffice build creates icons with different names than oooqs2 expects by default. The patch is limited, though; oooqs2 would need to be recompiled if a system admin replaced openoffice with openoffice-bin (or vice versa). But at least this is a start.

Created attachment 80491 [details, diff] patch for icon file names being different with openoffice source build
Created attachment 80492 [details] Ebuild for oooqs2 version 1.0 (w/o bogus CVS headers)
Created attachment 80513 [details] Ebuild for oooqs2 1.0 (change patch comment) I just took a closer look at the openoffice-bin ebuild and realized that the icon names are the same in both. How convenient! Simplified ebuild and comments to clarify attached.
Created attachment 81496 [details, diff] Detector is looking for different named wrapper scripts We also need a patch for the office detector, since the ooffice script has another name. See patch.
Created attachment 81497 [details, diff] Shouldn't be installed with oooqs 1 on the same system Patch for the ebuild
Will add this when I come around it, just not as a new package, but as an update to oooqs
ebuild is in now as oooqs-2.1.0, thanks to everyone who helped
