Description Joël 2006-02-22 15:26:59 UTC
This is not a big problem, but here it goes:

I emerged net-misc/ntp-4.2.0.20040617-r3 and I run ntp-client on default runlevel (and not ntpd).

For this reason, /var/log/ntp.log was never created.

Since I enabled the 'logrotate' USE flag, I receive error messages such as that:

error: stat of /var/log/ntp.log failed: No such file or directory

This is cause because /etc/logrotate.d/ntp is present. I don't know if it's easy (or at all possible) to solve this..

Don't use logrotate use flag for stuff where nothing will be ever rotated.

I think this is linked or due to either bug #53313 or bug #139654

I also encontour this bug. I need a fix.

as long as ntp is emerged, and put at start with rc.update, there is no reason for /var/log/ntp.log not to be created, unless some default conf does not match reality !
