Description Ken 2006-02-22 08:19:43 UTC
I use MythTV with my normal desktop box and since I don't want it writing to my harddrive constantly, I've made a tmpfs mount specifically for Live TV. The smallest you can make a LiveTV buffer is 1 gig in Myth TV. This patch changes that value from GB to MB so that small buffers are allowed.

I'd suggest making a local USE flag for this patch since not everyone will want to do this.

I finally found where I saw the original patch.

Looks like the MythTV folks "don't like it." Can it still be an option through portage or is this enhancement dead in the water?

For official Portage, it's dead in the water Ken. I'm not going to deviate much from what upstream doesn't like. However, it's something I'd consider in my local modifications.

If you want, http://projects.gatorlug.org/truthinesstv and file a ticket there with the patch and the info behind it. I'm behind on my own MythTV reworking because of work but I'll get to it eventually.

There will be this MythTV compatible server in Portage when it's ready and it'll have your patch (because I'm also running this on a tiny embedded box so I too need small buffers)
