Logging capabilities for portage. Basically.. it would be creating a infrastructure so that every ebuild while being "emerged" would be recorded/logger .. so that in the case of failure it would leave a record/log with hopefully explicit information about the ocurred problem. This could lead to faster bug-fixing if the users would be encouraged to post bugs with attached log's ..providing better/standart bug reports.. The idea is a log file per ebuild since that keeps things more separated. also.. if the emerge is sucessefull.. the log could be erased, so that it wouldn't take up space. About the log file .. the format would be left for the developers to use some that fits their needs.. but something like the output of a emerge I think is ok..allthough it might be a litle too "space intrusive"/big. thanks for the great work.
