Not everyone is using kde or gnome as a desktop manager. Some people are using smaller one WMs. I'm using fvwm and I had problems with my gajim and window focus. Ok I will explain what I have in mind. If you are have gajim running and you have open window let say on desktop #1 'cause you are talking to someone and now you swith to desktop #3 to do something like looking for new bugs on bugs.gentoo.org and that person with which one you are talking on desktop #1 will write to you a message you will be automatically moved to desktop #1 no matter what you are doing. Heh it can get annoying when you are doing one thing and somebody will write to you in gaim window and you get switched.... oh I messed here so much :) #from gajim '''sets/unsets urgency hint in window argument depending if we have unread messages or not'''

1) communicate this with upstream, please 2) I don't have this problem with Fluxbox (use_urgency_hint = True) As a sidenote - I'd like Fluxbox to switch to Gajim's desktop when I click on Gajim's trayicon.

What about this (from http://trac.gajim.org/wiki/GajimFaq)? * Q17. I'm running Gajim in fvwm and it steals focus everytime I receive message. What can I do ? A. Set use_urgency_hint to False in ACE or redefine UrgencyFunc in your fvwm configuration.
Re-assign wrt Bug 131936.
upstream issue.
