Please bump
Created attachment 80665 [details] ebuild for 2.6.15-ck4 This ebuild is based heavily on the ebuild for 2.6.15-ck3-r1.
I only have this keyworded for ~x86, since that is all I have to test. Both ck and cks patches apply and build cleanly.

New version now released again 2.5.15-ck5, *please* bump
Created attachment 81116 [details] ebuild for 2.6.15-ck5 This ebuild is also based heavily on the ebuild for 2.6.15-ck3-r1. I only have this keyworded for ~x86, since that is all I have to test. Both ck and cks patches apply and build cleanly.
Thanks scott, I forgot to mention I used your previous ebuild, and I'll use this one as well, its too bad that no one bothers to put this into portage (I just noticed *all* the other packages were updated)
Each kernel package is maintained by usually one or two people, and it looks like the ck-sources maintainer is inactive at the moment. It's not just a case of putting ebuilds in portage, we have to test them (compile *and* boot) first, and when you have 25 kernel packages in the tree you have a huge task on your hand. As for all other packages being up-to-date, I wish. We do keep our supported kernels (see http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-kernel.xml) up-to-date, but many of the others lack full maintenance.
On ~x86, both ck and cks kernels boot without error. All programs on the workstation (media players, IM clients, etc.) function as before. All services on the server (NFS, samba, and NIS) function as before.
How come ck-sources does not include the genpatches extras? K_WANT_GENPATCHES="base extras"
(In reply to comment #9) > How come ck-sources does not include the genpatches extras? > > K_WANT_GENPATCHES="base extras" > Check these links: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-347635-highlight-genpatches+base+extras.html -and- http://dev.gentoo.org/~dsd/genpatches/about.htm genpatches base are a minimal set of security and bugfixes that come out ahead of 2.6.x.y releases. Con rolls all of the .y patches into his patchset, but he doesn't get the in-betweens. genpatches extras are, as the name suggests, extras. They aren't strictly necessary. Con optimizes his patchset to maximize both performance and stability. Application of these extras could stray too far from his optimizations.
Sorry for not staying on top of this, I will get it into portage by the end of the day.
In portage, enjoy.
