Description Trashmail 2006-02-14 12:42:39 UTC
This is NOT a bugreport but a suggestion. Sorry if those are not to be posted here, but I didn't find a better place to do that.

IBM started a second driver-project for the ipw2200, this time supporting mastermode. (It's a bit tricky to find the firmware, try searching here [1])

It 'd be great if you created an ebuild for it :)

Yes, I intend to create an ebuild as soon as I manage to find the time for testing the new driver... :)
Comment 2 Trashmail 2006-02-14 13:04:44 UTC
I just tested it,
 - managed and ad-hoc modes still working ;)
 - needs a patch in the sourcecode (a few lines of the ieee code in the net directory need to be commented out, see bug URL)
 - master mode is working, but can't be set through iwconfig by now (The initial mode after loading the driver is master mode, after changing to another mode you can't change back to master mode)
 - monitor mode is not /(implemented|activated)/

And BTW thanks :)

Please, get this merged into the kernel driver

We are removing ipw2?00 ebuilds from the tree in favor of the in-kernel ones and don't have any plans or resources to maintain this stuff any more, let alone add more of those.

WONTFIX, sorry.
