Description Tim Fleming 2006-02-13 05:23:13 UTC
Attempting to install xorg-x11 gives the following dependency:

Calculating dependencies -
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "x11-drivers/xf86-input-vmmouse" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- x11-drivers/xf86-input-vmmouse-12.3.1.0 (masked by: package.mask)
# Bryan Stine <battousai@gentoo.org> (15 Jan 2006)
# New modular vmware mouse driver. Untested driver and untested PIC patch.

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
(dependency required by "x11-base/xorg-x11-7.0-r1" [ebuild])

If I add x11-drivers/xf86-input-vmmouse-12.3.1.0 to package.unmask and package.keywords then I get a dependency back on xorg-6.8.2:

[blocks B     ] x11-libs/libXft (is blocking x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r6)
[blocks B     ] <=x11-base/xorg-x11-6.9 (is blocking x11-drivers/xf86-video-neomagic-1.0.0.5)
[blocks B     ] <=x11-base/xorg-x11-6.9 (is blocking x11-drivers/xf86-video-cirrus-1.0.0.5)
...
[ebuild  N    ] x11-drivers/xf86-input-ur98-1.0.0.5  USE="-debug"
[ebuild  N    ] x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r6  USE="dlloader mmx opengl pam sse xv -3dfx -3dnow -bitmap-fonts -cjk -debug -dmx -doc -font-server -insecure-drivers -ipv6 -minimal -nls -nocxx -sdk -static -truetype-fonts -type1-fonts -xprint"
[ebuild  N    ] virtual/x11-6.8
