After moving to 2.6.14 SCM Microsystems, Inc. USBAT-2 CompactFlash Card Reader no longer mounts. SanDisk cruzer 256 continues to mount at /media/256MG I have 4 computers 2) Pentium III & 2) Pentium 4 all experienced the same problem. The usb media mounted w/o problems. after going to 2.6.14 w/ USBAT-02 compiled in the kernel - the system sees the hardware but fails to assign it a psudeo scsi mount point and then mount it. They all continue to see the Sandisk cruzer. (HOWEVER, only root can access the scandisk cruzer 256k) >lsusb Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000 Bus 003 Device 004: ID 04e6:1010 SCM Microsystems, Inc. Reopen if you can reproduce the problem with latest gentoo-sources/vanilla sources (2.6.15-r5/2.6.16_rc2) and attach (don't paste) your kernel .config

sigh... Please, reopen when you have the requested information available, not every time you cannot emerge kernel.
And if you are missing versions mentioned in comment #1, you need to emerge sync
(In reply to comment #6) > And if you are missing versions mentioned in comment #1, you need to emerge > sync > successfully emerge desired version of gentoo. This has solved the problem. However, It will only allow root to access the mount point. I assume that this has nothing to do with this problem. And will attempt to resolve before I post a new bug ... unless of course you have any suggestions :0)
