It used to appear correctly in kernel-2.6.15-r2/r3

You are talking about gentoo-sources here, right?

Do you mean "doesn't appear at all" by "no longer appears correctly"? If not, what exactly do you mean?

Please attach your kernel config.

Yes, gentoo-sources 2.6.15-r5.

I mean, The background image is displayed ok, but the text just above the progress bar is no longer displayed. The progressbar outline is drawn correctly, but the inner bar portion never gets filled.

It used to work correctly with 2.6.15-r3 as far as i can remember. I can't think of anything i have done that might affect this apart from upgrading the kernel.

Drawing the progress bar and the text is handled by userspace programs, so it's probably not the kernel that is causing the problem.

What splash theme and what version of splashutils are you using? Have you tried remerging it?

I'm not sure what is causing it, all i know is that i upgraded the kernel and i started having problems with the progress text not displaying and the inner bar filling problem.

I tried remerging the gentoo theme (which i'm using) and splashutils. I also removed the runlevel and re-added it. None of these actions fixed the problem.

I guess if i'm the only one with this problem it must just be something on my system causing it. I only classified this as minor because the system still works correctly as far as the boot process it concerned, it's just asthetic really.

I'll remove splashutils for now until i can determine if it's a problem on my end.

Is this still a problem with the current versions of gentoo-sources? If it is, please provide the output of 'fbset -i'.
