mplayer-1.0.20060102 has support for playing musepack files.  However, libmpcdec is required for playback of musepack files.

 The ebuild may be updated to include the musepack USE flag and add an optional dependency on libmpcdec.

It needs libmpcdec at least version 1.2.1 (I think), which is not yet in portage. So maybe add a request for that first (if there is not yet one).

Added a request for libmpcdec-1.2.2 : http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122174

mplayer is able to play musepack files properly here (x86) with above libmpcdec
