The wispy-tools package installed and ran until the hardware detection on my ~amd64 system. I don't have hardware to detect yet. Please add ~amd64, and probably all the other basic systems, to the ebuild KEYWORDS entry. # grep wispy /etc/portage/package.keywords net-wireless/wispy-tools ~x86 # emerge wispy-tools ... >>> net-wireless/wispy-tools-2006.01.1 merged. >>> Recording net-wireless/wispy-tools in "world" favorites file... # wispy_gtk Unable to find device on USB bus - expected result until I get the device # emerge --info Portage 2.1_pre4-r1 (default-linux/amd64/2005.0, gcc-3.4.5, glibc-2.3.6-r2, 2.6.14-gentoo-r5 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.14-gentoo-r5 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre15 ccache version 2.4 [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.4.2-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64 ~amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib64/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/bind /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS=" http://gentoo.osuosl.org/ http://adelie.polymtl.ca/ ftp://ftp.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/pub/gentoo http://csociety-ftp.ecn.purdue.edu/pub/gentoo/ http://gentoo.seren.com/gentoo http://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com/ http://gentoo.mirrors.tds.net/gentoo http://mirror.tucdemonic.org/gentoo/ " LANG="C" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="amd64 X a52 aac aalib acpi alsa apache2 audiofile avi berkdb bidi bitmap-fonts bootsplash calendar cdda cdparanoia cdr corba crypt cups curl daap dba dbus dga divx4linux doc dts dvb dvd dvdr dvdread eds emboss encode evms2 exif fbcon ffmpeg firefox foomaticdb fortran freetype gd ggi gif gnome gnutls gpm gps gstreamer gtk gtk+ gtk2 hal httpd imlib ipv6 jabber joystick jpeg kde kerberos ldap libcaca lirc live lm_sensors lzw lzw-tiff matroska mikmod mod motif mp3 mpeg mysql mythtv nautilus ncurses nls nptl nsplugin nvidia oggvorbis opengl pam pdflib perl php png ppds python qt quicktime readline real screen sdl snmp speex spell ssl stream svg t1lib tcpd theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb userlocales v4l v4l2 vcd vlm wxwindows xinerama xmms xosd xpm xv xvidinfo zlib elibc_glibc kernel_linux userland_GNU" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS
Since you do not have the hardware you have no way of telling if the application actually works or not on amd64. I suggest closing it as LATER and wait for someone with the actual hardware to verify that it works.
yup, seems to be the best
