Description M. Edward Borasky 2006-02-04 18:49:42 UTC
I just started using the "sci" overlay to pick up some more recent ebuilds, like maxima-5.9.2. Also, some ebuilds were moved recently from "media-gfx" to somewhere else, including "gnuplot". As a result, "emerge -puvDN" dies trying to find the "gnuplot" dependency for maxima-5.9.2:

DreamGate ~ # emerge -puvDN world

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies |
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy ">=media-gfx/gnuplot-4.0".
(dependency required by "sci-mathematics/maxima-5.9.2" [ebuild])

!!! Problem resolving dependencies for sci-mathematics/maxima
!!! Depgraph creation failed.

I'm not sure what exactly is broken. This is the only issue I've seen since the move.

How is this an upstream issue?

The scientific overlay is not a Gentoo product, I run it on my hardware outside of Gentoo with non-Gentoo devs, i.e. our herd testers, who can commit stuff. I have been really busy but will try to get to it today.

Take it back - looks like someone else already took care of it. For overlay issues please open a ticket on the overlay ticket system or email me or the person taking care of the package.
