the unace ebuild installs the unace binary into /opt/bin/. I for one don't have /opt/bin in my PATH, nor do I want a /opt/bin directory. I think a better solution would be to install into /opt/unace/ and add a env.d entry like rar does, or symlink the binary into /usr/bin/
unace is just 1 file that is why it was put into /opt/bin also Gentoo utilizes /opt/bin for this *exact* purpose ... when we have a binary pkg that really only installs 1 file, we install it into /opt/bin rather than some useless tree in /opt/unace as for /opt/bin not being in PATH, it *is* in your PATH ... just review /etc/env.d/00basic ... if you dont have lines that add /opt/bin to your PATH/ROOTPATH then you should upgrade your baselayout
