If there is a file ._cfg... config update file existing without a valid existing config counterpart, etc-update displays is on the list of required updates. Example: The system configuration is valid, but there is a file like e.g. /etc/._cfg0000_DIR_COLORS~ left over as a backup created during a manual edit in the last config update session. A new etc-update run displays /etc/DIR_COLORS~ as config file that needs update, although there is no such file.
starting from r3139 it ignores any files ending in '~' or '.bak'. Thanks!
