Description Michal Kurgan (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-02 16:42:40 UTC
After loading of documents in evince , or resizing them (ie. zooming) sometimes my computer roboots. Previously i used evince 0.5 with same poppler version, and reboots were much more often, after downgrading both reboots are not so often like before but still occur...
I don't know what information i can provide but i will do whatever You want to know what is the reason for that behaviour.

evince-0.4.0-r3
poppler-bindings-0.4.3-r2
poppler-0.4.3-r4

Comment 1 Patrick McLean gentoo-dev 2006-02-03 09:18:51 UTC
This sound like a video driver problem.

What version of X are you running?

What video card do you have, and what drivers are you using for it (are you using proprietary or open source)?
Comment 2 Michal Kurgan (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-03 12:33:31 UTC
xorg-x11-6.8.2-r6
video driver - xorg ati driver
video card - ATI Rage 128 Pro Ultra TF

I use it quite a long time and only problem is with evince.
Comment 3 Patrick McLean gentoo-dev 2006-02-03 14:03:06 UTC
Generally, system reboots and crashes are either a kernel or hardware problem, generally a user program like evince should not be able to reboot the system unless there is already something wrong with the configuration.

Are you sure it is not a heat or driver issue?
Comment 4 Michal Kurgan (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-03 14:27:42 UTC
I don't belive that, case is open, i use default drivers and reboots are in very different conditions in my opinion. The problem is that i can't find any relevant info, no kernel messeges, nothing in logs. If only i would know how i can found what the problem is... and the strange thing that it only happens with evince.

Also i checked evince in kde environment (i normally use xfce) and result is the same, reboot on load, resize...

If You have any suggestions how can i diagnose problem send me an info.
Comment 5 Michal Kurgan (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-11 20:55:50 UTC
I've changed whole hardware, i would start to use evince one more time. If there would be no problems i will close bug as a INVALID one.
Comment 6 Michal Kurgan (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-14 16:32:35 UTC
After 3 days of extensive evince usage and testing i agree, it had to be some hardware problem. Closing as invalid.
In case of problems i would reopen it, but i don't thinks so it would be needed.

Sorry guys for bothering...
