Hi, after upgrading cdparanoia to version 3.9.8-r3 I cannot do any DAE (Digital Audio Extraction) with my Plextor PX-40TS anymore. Either I get really crappy DAE-results (many jitter-errors or uncorrectable errors) or the drive dies like this: Feb 2 20:53:36 BadBoy kernel: scsi0:0:3:0: Attempting to queue an ABORT message Feb 2 Do an "emerge sync" in about 1 hour and try remerging the package.
Hi, well your change does the same like reverting cdparanoia back to -r2 version so I think this can be seen as fixed so far. I hope I won't get in trouble with these patches as soon as I can upgrade to a kernel >=2.6.15 while not hitting my above mentioned aic7xxx problem :-/ Cheers Poly
We haven't had much testing of the SG_IO patches with kernels under 2.6.15 or SCSI drives (as far as I know, you are the first person to try them with a SCSI drive). Please file another bug if you have problems with kernel >= 2.6.15, I will have to back out the patches or make them a USE flag. This is really a kernel issue, nothing any user program can do should cause kernel stack dumps like that. If you still get the bug in 2.6.15, try to reproduce it without the nvidia module loaded. If you can reproduce it, file a bug in the kernel bugzilla, they are very good these days about random user problems. Also you cut it at the point, is there an oops, a BUG() or a panic?
Hi, sorry Patrick I can't tell you what error the kernel had because the whole system froze at that point and I had to hard reset the machine. The next entry in the logfile is from the next boot so I can't give you more information than I already did in my first post here. Greetz Poly
