After upgrading from KDE 3.5.0 to 3.5.1, the backgrounds of Konqueror windows are now suddenly black instead of white. See the screenshot. I've changed the text color to blue in the Konqueror preferences so I can see the text. But the background color is not a setting in the Konqueror preferences dialog. # emerge info Portage 2.1_pre4-r1 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.3.6, glibc-2.3.6-r2, 2.6.12-gentoo-r9 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.12-gentoo-r9 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre15 dev-lang/python: 2.3.4, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://213.186.33.38/gentoo-distfiles/ ftp://linux.rz.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/gentoo-mirror/ http://212.219.56.131/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ http://213.186.33.37/gentoo-distfiles/ http://194.117.143.72 ftp://ftp.tu-clausthal.de/pub/linux/gentoo/ http://212.219.56.152/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/" LINGUAS="en nl fr" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X alsa apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts browserplugin cpudetection crypt cups debug directfb divx4linux eds emboss encode foomaticdb fortran gdbm gif gimpprint glibc-compat20 gpm gstreamer gtk2 imlib javamail jce jikes jpeg kde kdeenablefinal libg++ libwww mad mikmod mmx mmxext motif mozilla mp3 mpeg mplayer ncurses nls nvidia ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png ppds python qt quicktime rdesktop readline sdl spell sse ssl tcpd truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts vorbis win32codecs xine xinerama xml2 xmms xprint xv zlib elibc_glibc kernel_linux linguas_en linguas_nl linguas_fr userland_GNU" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, MAKEOPTS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY

Hi, I've upgraded to kde 3.5.1 too and I can't confirm this behaviour. If you havn't allready, you can try to start kde from a fresh user account to see if any of the config files in ~ are messed up.
Ernst, are you using some experimental xrender exitension by chance? Can't reproduce the problem either.
Without feedback we can't do anything for you.
