Hello! Just a hint: I've heard that several people always type "all" or "All" instead of "ALL" when searching for bugs on http://bugs.gentoo.org. But [A/a]ll does not return anything, so people write a new bug report. I know for sure this happend for http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121156 and other bugs, which some co-workers reported. I also made that mistake. Wouldn't it be possible to accept any spelling? I don't know what the bugzilla code looks like, but it shouldn't be a problem at all and this little measure would help preventing duplicates. That's just a idea...
No, it wouldn't - boolean operators only accept uppercase, that's why it's explicitely noted in UPPERCASE under the search box. See http://bugs.gentoo.org/quicksearch.html (available from the 'Help' link just next to search box, but people apparently don't ever bother reading that either). Besides, I'm pretty sure that 99% of people wouldn't ever search even if the note was on the front page in 30pt font bold red blinking letters with "Search or suffer" midi loop background sound being played.

Hehe ;) Well, I didn't think about boolean operators. In my opinion it would still be better to also accept lowercase (at least for the word "all" if its in the beginning). That opinion is just based on my own experience, because - as I said - I and a co-worker reported duplicates because of that. It would be a good idea to analyze the logs (if possible) in order to see how many people make that "lowercase-mistake". Then, maybe it's really worth to think about changing it. Or couldn't you put the default text "ALL" in the box by default? Or use checkboxes (with ALL selected by default)? These are just some ideas to talk about...
