The 3.1.8-r1, ive seen this issue before, uninstalled it, and installed an older one, after i did an update it put this one back on, now ive done a rebuild on a newer one and it works fine.
This has nothing to do with catalyst.
in other words, 3.1.9 works but 3.1.8-r1 does not

ncftp 3.1.9 is stable now
